The Rehabilitation and Social Integration Centre in Sofia was officially opened on 27th April 2011. It is governed by Sofia Municipal Authorities and financed by The Labour and Social Affairs Department of the Government.
The centre has the capacity to work with 60 blind and partially sighted people. It offers services to the visually impaired living on the territory of Sofia who are over 18 years old and have a medical certificate proving an incapacity to work of over 70% due to visual impairment.
The clients of the Rehabilitation centre can choose between several services: braille literacy, computer courses, orientation and mobility, daily living skills, studying foreign languages and musical therapy. Our rehabilitation officers and the clients decide together which of our courses will answer the client’s needs best.
We are proud to offer the first Film Club for the Blind in Bulgaria not only to our clients but also to any visually impaired person interested in films. Twice a month members of this club can watch popular films with live audio description.
The clients pay fees which do not exceed 5% of their incomes. Our services are free for visually impaired people who are between 18 and 20 years old.
